Last weekend Privett Village Hall was buzzing with activity as we combined our Annual General Meeting with a Curry & Pudding Night.
The evening began with the AGM of the Village Hall Trust, where attendees received the Treasurer’s Report on the financial affairs for the year ending 31 December 2024 and heard the Chairman’s Report. Officers and committee members for the coming year were also elected, ensuring the hall continues to be in safe and dedicated hands.
With business concluded, the serious work of enjoying ourselves began. The redoubtable cooks and chefs of Privett had prepared an extraordinary feast – from fiery hot curries to gentle, family-friendly dishes, all accompanied by the usual array of rice, breads and sides. And as if that weren’t enough, a table groaned with a wonderful selection of puddings, each one as tempting as the next.
The pay bar, opening from 6.30pm, kept glasses filled with beer and wine throughout the evening, helping to fuel the lively conversation and laughter that filled the hall. With tickets at just £15 (and family deals plus discounts for those contributing dishes), it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from across the community.
A special thank you goes to Gill Chung and Alex Raphael for coordinating the event and handling bookings, and of course to everyone who contributed food, time and energy to make the evening such a success.
It was yet another reminder of what makes our village so special – a mix of commitment, community spirit and plenty of fun.
